Outfit: Texture of Adventure

Worn out canvas. Reused close up pic from my Shabby Garden look.
Worn out suede. Reused close up pic from my other look.

Hi. This is a different combination of items I wore in previous posts (I just reuse bag and shoes close up pics from my Shabby Garden look). I love the rough textures mix of linen, thick denim, worn out canvas, leather and suede. I think it gives a sense of adventure, a trace of memorable journey (I'm still curious about what story it might be which left a cigarette hole on the bag). Here, for example, I've been wearing it off-road in the woods, just near our home hahaha. In fact, each item is super comfy, durable and functional, yet has affordable price. I did hope I looked mature enough in this casual outfit.

Linen jacket: LOGG by H&M (old)
Stripes tee: Divided by H&M (old)
Boyfriend jeans (indeed man jeans): CCS Legacy Flex (old)
Canvas bag: €1 thrifted in Naschmarkt, Vienna.
Suede shoes: Timberland (old).

The highest price range in this ensemble is the Timberland shoes, but they worth the price for their comfort. The fact that mine are gift from my sister (knew it!) is lucky me, hehehe. I've been hearing a lot of good review about Timberland shoes therefore I really want to try.

Talking about suede leather, I love its look and durability. The down sides are dirt and stain often difficult to clean and prone to mildew.  Upon wearing, either it would look gross, or good one, if the worn out marks would be like aging gracefully. I don't know how these shoes looked like when they were new, but my sister must have done something great.

There are a lot of outdoor shoes made of suede. With the right treatment and  maintenance, they last long and even can be water resistant. However, for other type of suede shoes especially with light color I avoid wearing them in wet, muddy condition or salty road.

Linen and canvas are also durable, but the colored ones can easily fade and look dull upon wearing. Seems like I just did experiment with a total worn out textures mixed all together.in an outfit ensemble. Perhaps I should wear ripped off washed out jeans too. Still I wish my own skin is smoother. :-)

Wish you enjoy your own great time of adventure. Take care!

Garden Tulln

Kring kring from Die Garten Tulln.
Hi, everyone.
Today I take you to Die Garten Tulln, a beautiful garden in Tulln, Lower Austria. It was beautiful day  (and hot) when I and my husband strolled around from garden to another garden. Each garden has different style or theme but all of them are very nice for photoshoot spot. There are shabby chic, mediteranean, asian, vegetable garden, minimalist style, etc. My favorites are the dahlia and roses garden. The massive big flowers and colors are spectacular, we were just at the right time. Unfortunately I couldn't find cactus garden except a small corner in a glass room. I would love it if there was.

What I wore that day:

  • Linen jacket: LOGG by H&M
  • Long arm Tee with crochet details: I forget the brand. Old piece of mine I bought in Indonesia.
  • Jeans: CCS Legay Flex, a quick secondhand snap at Pfenniq Bazaar in Stuttgart (€5 for whatever clothes you can fully stuff into a paper bag)
  • Hat: Triset (bought in Indonesia)
  • Sneakers: ASICS
  • Sunglasses and camera pouch: Claire's. I bought at the mall but Claire's has online shop with international delivery here. They have cute and affordable accessories. Things I bought from it are happened to be my fave and I wear very often (this is not ad or affiliate).
  • Backpack: Kipling

Tips:

  • Die Garten Tulln opens every year from April until early October but you may want to have a chance to attend a garden exhibition (Gartenbaumesse) at one go. If you purchase entry ticket Die Garten Tulln you can use it as entry to the exhibition too, the exhibition only take few days so you need to check the schedule if you like to see. I know my post is too late :) but who knows you would like to go there someday in the future. For more information this is the official site: www.diegartentulln.at and events/exhibition in Tulln.
  • In front of the entry gate you can rent a canoe and rowing around the river.
  • Die Garten Tulln is not far from the town center. You can wandering around trough the nature path, or rent a bike (great place for biking), or take a free mini tourist train. There are nature swimming pool, shops, caffes, delicious ice creams, beautiful park along the huge river, a restaurant in a ship, stage, and Egon Schiele museum.
Act like a Bond
Relaxing on a bean bag or having foot reflexion massage walking in the water

Among roses.
Aming dahlias.

In front of tall sunflowers.

Garden and its tower.
Stepping up the tower and then looking down.

This retro camper is cranky. She doesn't want to move nor let me in.

Garden walls

A little glass house.
Pumpkin soup and Apfelstrudel ( a must taste if you visit Austria)
Childhood flame. I know...I'm 30s I know.
I don't need SPF under this sombrero. I borrowed it in exhibition area.
My great great great grand family (this is in the exhibition area)
Beside beautiful garden you can also take a high step up to the top of tower and look down and around (or use the lift).

There is also a restaurant facing a pool with its fountain attraction. It seems like the vegetables are picked from its own garden. my husband ordered Apfelstrudel (a must taste if you are in Austria). Unfortunately I only tried the pumpkin soup because I didn't feel well enough to eat more. I had suffered nausea since the night before, vomitted over and over again after I ate ginger chocolate followed by roiboos tea straight afterwards. I don't know what was wrong.

Lately I have attended some exhibitions, shows, movies and other events but my outfits and photos were unfortunate hahaha, not sure if I should share you too many flop fashion stories or crappy pictures :-), I am afraid you will leave worse than uninspired. Well, let see. I hope you all have fortunate events anyway! Tchuss!

Smock and Culottes

Hi,

This is not to a current outfit but it's today appropriate because it still warm here for a day or two. I wore oversized sabrina chiffon top with ruffle and smock details, oversized culottes, cheap black slippers which are very comfortable and my fave bag. I am happy with the volume, proportion and silhouette of the whole ensemble.

The top may be used off shoulder. It is sheer so I wore a vest underneath. I altered the waist band of the culottes by moving the closure button so it makes a wider front flap as a result. The culottes has a heavy and thick denim cotton fabric which feels warm actually.

When I went out to supermarket, I used my backpack instead of the shoulder bag and still I made a bit mess with my grocery. What so called an outfit picture boooo. :-)

Sheer top with sabrina neckline, ruffle and smock details, labels: chiffon, label unknown.
Culottes: cotton with satin details, label unknown (thrifted in  Jogja, my hometown)
Shoulder bag: leather, Romwe.
Slippers: synthetic leather, Syndicate store (old purchase).
Backpack: Kipling

Wish you all have a super inspiring day wherever you are and whatever you do.

Outfit: Shabby Garden

Halo, everyone. This is my outfit few days ago. All about light, airy, floral pattern mix and rough texture for summer day with breeze. If you google "shabby chic garden", this look is pretty much like it, but if you google "shabby chic outfit", it's not quite alike :-).

Every garment I wear in this look is comfortable, laid back yet totally functional.

I bought the canvas bag in flea market for 1 Euro, I forget where it was. The hem is frayed, it even features a cigarette hole that it looks somehow "ugly" cool and strengthens the theme.

The sneakers were given by my sisters. They belonged to her. The color is already dull uneven that they look worn out but cool too. Somehow! Anyway, the soles and inner part are in a very good condition.

Another time I paired the same outfit with different shoes which were a pair of sling-back kitten heels I bought in annual charity market in our small town. I think they made my look looks heavier on top.

Could be better:
I would like my tunic smaller and my pants more tapered and have shorter legs so the look would be less floppy. The pants' fabric is easily wrinkled, but would be smoother after few minutes wearing (minus the sitting marks).

Tomorrow would be the first day of the apartment's heating to start on. It's getting colder because lately, one hot summer day followed by bad weather days in a row afterwards. This outfit has been thrown in the laundry and I would need my jacket all the time. How is it in your country? I wish you a nice weather and a super inspiring day!

Floral tunic: light cotton, bought in Thailand.I don't remember where and how much. Maybe in a night local market in Chiang Mai.
Floral scarf: light cotton, Levi's.
Pants: Lyocell, Mango. By the way, do you know Mango has outlet online shop? Awesome price!
Bag: canvas, fake leather look fabric, unbranded, fleamarket, €1
Sneakers: suede, Timberland
Sling-back kitten heels in tan: leather, 5th Avenue, charity market, €1

7 Ways to Wear Scarf

7 ways to wear scarf.

Few days ago I have a little experiment with my Levi's long cotton scarf (186 cm x 65 cm). I would like to find some alternatives to cover my arms in the summer to slightly protect  my skin from the sun and chilly breezy wind.

Scarf 1
Scarf 1. I put the scarf over my shoulder and secured it around my waist with a belt. Then I threw the other edge over my other shoulder and slipped it trough the belt and/or belt loop of my pants.  A brooch would be pretty to secure it.

Scarf 2 & 3
Scarf 2 is the basic start of scarf 1 and 3. See the top left pic above. I like to let it fall down long at front and cover my belly.

Scarf 3 is basically the same way as Scarf 1 but I turned the back side around as the front side. In the winter with a warmer scarf I can use the front fold as a muff or like a hoodie jumper pocket to keep my hands warm. For a moment I thought I would just leave the back opened but maybe I need to pin it if I can't keep it staying put on my shoulders.

Scarf 4 & 5
Scarf 4 is the start of scarf 6. See top left pic above. I just wrapped the scarf around my neck twice and the hanging part covered my chest and belly like a halter vest.

Scarf 5. From the scarf 4 I continue the steps by pulling the two "wings" over my shoulders and arms. In this style I love that my neck is also covered but I am afraid that it would kill me if I let it pulled from left and right. Am I paranoid? I often wear my scarf pretty much like that though. Anyway, a brooch would keep it safe. The back side somehow looks like a ladybug costume  :-).

Scarf 6
Scarf 6 is also easy but easy to slip off my shoulders as well. I didn't find it difficult to knot the scarf around my both wrists.

Scarf 7
Scarf 7. I hope you could figure out your self how I did the wrap by seeing the pictures. I have difficulty to explain it in words and actually, there are no exact rules. :) To me this one looks like some traditional outfits in Asia. It only covers one shoulder but I like the result, though I don't like that my bloating stomach looks obvious as I have flat chest too (maybe it would be cute as maternity outfit).

Floral Scarf: Levi's (cotton, 186 cm x 65 cm)
Jeans: vintage
Shoes: Michelino (bought and made in Indonesia)

That's a wrap for now. i hope seven ways are not too much. I wear scarf very often. I would love to experiment more with it. Thanks for reading and I wish you a super inspiring day. Tschuss!

Skin by Finsk Cut Out Boots

Skin By Finsk leather cut-out boots
Hi, everyone,
About 3 months ago I won a giveaway in Fashiolista. I got these cool cut out booties from Skin By Finsk. My blog was in hiatus but I did take photos when it arrived. Yes. lately I take pictures everytime there is new item in my wardrobe as document or to use it for review, or organizing. Hope it's not too old to share. The booties are still available in the store here.

Skin By Finsk is a London-based footwear brand by talented Finnish shoe designer Julia Lundsten. If you like modern, minimalist, or urban, architecture inspired design then I think you would like their designs. They are unique and would be a strong statement in a look. I read that each shoe is carefully constructed using the highest quality, locally-sourced materials. If you are interested, why don't you check it out here. I have no affiliate program with them and I am not paid to blog it. I just found it interesting (that's why I entered the giveaway) and I'm happy to have these booties.

Unwrap
When they arrived the packaging was pretty neat. Is that a thing? A well thought packaging makes a professional and precious impression, doesn't it?
They came in double boxes. Inside the corrugated box there was the shoe box wrapped in a piece of black paper and sticker and inside the shoe box they wrapped again the shoes with white paper. A cotton shoe pouch is included. The shoes were in shape and good condition. No scratch on the patent leather at all.

First impression
It was just like...cool. I've never had boots like these, modern minimalist style with a bold statement. Leather upper and lining with cut on the sides. Do you notice the green ridge soles? I love the pointy toes and the contrast of black leather and the patent finish. It would be suitable for party, evening or semi formal event too.

I've never rolled my socks like this since in the 90's :-)

Wearing
I haven't worn them as often as I would like to, because I haven't been used to them yet, so I didn't bring them in my travel and not sure to wear them in a long stroll. The last few weeks the weather seems to be confusing too and I don't want to wear them in the rain although they are probably durable enough.

These cut out booties are comfortable, though at first the leather and the cut feel stiff. The size is half size too big, because 36.5 are not available and I get 37 instead but I can make it more snug with socks (I think I'm going to find a nude color thick socks).

They have stud fastening straps. It keeps the look clean and simple but I am not used to it so at first it was difficult to pull the strap out and hook the hole on the stud again but I'm getting expert.

The ridged EVA soles make walking with the shoes more comfortable, not slippery, less tik tak sound, which I like. Unfortunately, walking on rough parking space in front of our home, little gravels kept stuck on the heel soles and made holes. Next time, with this type of heel sole and patent leather, I would wear them only on a less rough surface and avoid those tiny stones. I don't want the patent leather scratched either.

I like the loop on the back. I have this thought to maybe hang something on it like tassel or tie a piece of scarf trough it. I hope I don't mess the already cool design if I do that though.

How would you style boots like these? I would like to experiment with different looks. Perhaps a cool modern minimalist style or playing around mixing with another styles, vintage elements, or various textures in the ensembles. Let see how the weather is too. Despite the rain, wether it's cold or not, I would need socks. I know...I could experiment to pair them with various socks.

Thanks for reading. I wish you a super inspiring day :)

A Velvet Jacquard Jacket

Hi, everyone.
It's been a while. Here I am, trying to blog again. :)

First, I want to say Happy Eid Mubarak to all of you who celebrate it. I wish you joy and peace.

Anyway....
Last month I spent a week in Stuttgart for family reunion. Lucky woman I am, because I have two sisters (plus my mom) with sustainable wardrobe thought which means I went to Stuttgart with empty trolley and came back to Austria with full load of secondhand clothes (grin) (grin).

This jacket was one of those I brought home. I wore it when I attended the opening show of Impulstanz Vienna International Dance Festival  (if you are interested, it's still running until August 17th and click here for info).

The Event
This jacket gives my casual tee-plus-jeans outfit a more dressy look. The Impulstanz Vienna International Dance Festival show I attended has no formal dress code though, and the dance was contemporary. It even had setting of the stage covered with all kind of clothes all over the place. The show took place in Volkstheater, Vienna. The building was built in1889. I think the floral relief pattern matched the building ornaments, don't you think? Below I pasted pic of me on the Volkstheater interior photos to illustrate what I meant because I didn't take selfie there. Hehehe.

Jacket pattern and interior ornaments

The Weather
It was hot and we arrived at Vienna about an hour before the show. However I felt comfortable with my jacket put on as when we walked around Volkstheater and Museumsquartier it was windy. After I went into the Volkstheater, wew...it's too hot. A lot of people swing their hand fan. I finally gave up my jacket and exposed my casual tee. It's an outwear anyway.

The Fabric
It looks like the jacket is made of cotton velvet jacquard fabric, although I'm not 100% sure because there is no tag. Tell me if I'm wrong. Without inner lining, it feels rough against the skin but it's still comfortable and absorbs sweat.

As you can see in the picture above the floral pattern quite matches the ornament of the building interior. I don't know if the color would bleed when I wash as I haven't done it, but I am afraid so. I also wouldn't wear it too often too long under the strong sun again because the color seems to fade or become dull easily. Again, just like my red chiffon shirt and cords pants, I would have to hand wash it alone and lock the bleeding with vinegar soak or use color absorber sheet.

The Silhouette
Maybe it is designed to be a crop jacket, with A line baby doll shape. It's size 10/ EUR S/USA S. My sis is taller than me. On me this jacket ends at the start point of my hip curve. I think it emphasizes my pear figure but somehow, I like it like that. I saw on a magazine, the same type of jacket on a woman with a long torso, the hem of the jacket ends higher so it looks like a bit hanging and exposes more of the waist-to-hip curve. It looks good that way. I could alter the length of my jacket but if I do, I should alter the pockets and the sleeves too otherwise it will not look nice.  By the way, the type of my jeans takes part in determining the whole silhouette too.

The Outfit

Velvet jacket: label Marchie, bought in Indonesia (was my sister's).
Jeans: Nevada Jeans, my old one (one of my three favorites), I bought in Matahari Dept. Store in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
Lace up booties: label unknown, thrifted around my town.
Black leather bag: Romwe.
Polar sunglasses: Jacque Lemans.
